Premium quality 16MnCr5 carbon steel bars for applications requiring excellent toughness, wear resistance, and surface hardenability. Available in round, square, and flat bar forms

PRODUCT SPECIFICATION

16MnCr5 carbon steel bars are low-alloy case hardening steels, widely used in engineering and mechanical components where high surface hardness and core toughness are required. The steel grade 16MnCr5 (1.7131) offers a good balance of machinability, strength, and wear resistance after heat treatment processes such as carburizing and quenching.

These bars are manufactured to strict dimensional tolerances and surface finish standards, available in various shapes including round bars, flat bars, and square bars. They comply with EN 10084 standards and are ideal for further machining, forging, or hardening.

16MnCr5 steel bars are extensively used in the manufacturing of components that demand high wear resistance on the surface and toughness at the core. Common applications include:

  • Automotive parts (gears, shafts, camshafts, crankshafts)
  • Mechanical transmission components
  • Railway engineering parts
  • Industrial tools and fixtures
  • Forged components requiring surface hardening

This steel is especially suitable for parts subjected to medium loads and dynamic stresses, where a hardened surface layer is critical to extending service life.
