roduct INTRODUCTION

AISI 410 Stainless Steel Pipe / Tube is a martensitic stainless steel product that combines high strength, moderate corrosion resistance, and good machinability. With 11.5–13.5% chromium and a carbon content of 0.15%, 410 stainless steel can be heat-treated to achieve higher hardness and toughness, while maintaining excellent wear resistance.

It is widely used in pipeline transport, boilers, oil & gas drilling, hydraulic systems, and automotive parts, especially in environments exposed to atmosphere, steam, water, and oxidizing acids.

KEY FEATURES

  • High Strength: Excellent mechanical performance, can be hardened by heat treatment.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Performs well against air, steam, water, and oxidizing acid environments.
  • Machinability: Easy to process and fabricate into different shapes.
  • Magnetic Properties: Naturally magnetic, unlike austenitic stainless steels.
  • Heat Treatment: Improves hardness and toughness (avoid tempering between 370–560°C).
  • Limitations: Plasticity and corrosion resistance decrease after welding; not ideal for harsh corrosive environments.

MATERIAL PROPERTIES

  1. Chromium (11.5–13.5%) forms a protective oxide film, providing resistance to oxidation and stress corrosion.
  2. Large thermal conductivity and small expansion coefficient, suitable for high/low temperature use.
  3. Can contain trace amounts of Mo, Ti, Nb for improved stability.
  4. AOD/VOD refining technology reduces impurities (C, N), enhancing performance.

APPLICATION

  • Boiler tubes and heat exchangers
  • Petroleum and natural gas pipelines
  • Hydraulic and automobile components
  • Pump shafts, valve parts, turbine blades
  • General engineering and structural parts requiring high strength + moderate corrosion resistance
